Breast milk is best for babies. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Unnecessary introduction of bottle feeding or other food and drinks will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. After six months of age, infants should receive age-appropriate foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Consult your doctor before deciding to use infant formula or if you have difficulty breastfeeding.

Way to go! It feels like you’re ready to start potty training your child. It’s important to remember that the process won’t happen overnight, however. It can typically take between a few weeks and half a year before your child is out of diapers for good. Deciding how and when to start potty training is not just about when your child is ready. It’s whether you as the parent are ready, too. You’ll need time and patience to help your toddler adapt to the changes, and you need to be prepared to deal with the accidents, which will inevitably happen. Working together with your toddler on this one will help to ensure the most successful outcome. Good luck!

It seems it’s not quite time to start potty training just yet. By all means keep a potty in the bathroom, within easy reach of your child, to help them become familiar with the idea of going to the toilet in the same place that bigger people go! While you might have spotted some signs that your child is ready, waiting a little longer before you start will help to save you from some of the frustrations and setbacks that can occur when you start the process too early. Simply keep on using your toddler’s cues as a way of figuring out when to potty train… which won’t be long now!
